Bexhill And Back - Eating Out In Bexhill

"My friend and I had a choice of seats in a near empty restaurant.  I usually expect a drinks order to be taken quickly after being seated, but we waited a long time before any kind of service. The Marabou is split into two eating areas, and I got the impression that staff were busier next door in the cafe style area. The food and pricing on the menu wasn't the same as the sandwich board out the front, which had been the "hook" that brought us in, although that may have been a lunchtime special left out long after lunch.

When the drinks did come, the glass my orange juice was in didn't smell too great and the drink wasn't particularly cold, which would have been nice on a hot day, as it was that day.

By this point, it was looking like a disappointing experience. Then the food came. I had plumped for Grilled Gammon, which was served with slices of pineapple, fried egg, mushrooms and peas. My friend went with fried cod and chips, served with a salad. The first thought upon seeing the plates was "wow". These were very generous sized portions that made a very full plate of food. The food looked good, and the looks weren't deceiving. These were fantastic, hearty dinners that tasted great.

Rarely for me, I cleared the plate of every morsel. The main courses averaged about £10 each. We were offered desert, but there was no actual desert menu which would have been nice, so we cold properly consider them and actually see the prices.

After a slow start, I left Little Marabou with a very favourable impression. This had been all about the food, and I'd definitely recommend that to anyone."
